M, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. What an outrage that this could even happen knowing all that we know in this day and age.
Despite this, I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. My Prayers and thoughts are with you and your Mom.

Heidi,
Thank you for your kind (and Immediate) comment.
We'll get through- I am just stymied that this guy is still holding office hours!!
I hope that you and family had a good holiday-
and that I will see you soon, M.

I'm so sorry to hear your mother is one of this guy's patients. How ignorant can he have been? And did no one ever see what he was doing? Or were they afraid to correct him and waited until someone came down with hepatitisC? Why would he re-use needles? to save money? It's outrageous.

I hope that your mother has good results from the test and that you both will be free of worry.

I read a re-read your post and I still can't believe it.
Please keep us posted about your mother. This guy should loose his practice. I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

Wow, thanks to all of you, your support and your comments. Though I have not been able to do much about it, your responses remind me of how powerful our visual voices are, and how it is our calling as illustrators to speak this way.

Hi Melanie,
I can't believe it, what an outrage. Your poor mum. I wonder if this Doctor would use a reused needle on himself or his family? I think Not!! Hope your mum is okay and I hope this guy gets brought to justice.

Ang, and all:
Thanks again for all of your good energies.
Some good news-
Hep C test is negative, rest of the results TK.
I will keep you posted.

Good thoughts or you all,
xxxx

I don't think I've ever heard of something this downright egregious effecting the lives of people I care about. Considering how it makes my blood boil, I can't even imagine what you and your family must be going through. It's especially frustrating when someone in a profession we are supposed to trust without question betrays that trust in such a wickedly flagrant way.

I do hope there is more good news on the way for your mother and that justice is on the horizon. She'll be in my thoughts.

Bri,

Thank you for your thoughts and for putting so eloquently my feelings exactly. It is startling, isn't it?

Talk soon,

It's amazing that stuff like this could even happen today. Back in the 70's some irresponsible doctor over-radiated a sist in my mother's brain killing healthy tissue and leaving her partially parallized on her left side. It is progressive so by the time we realized, the doc had managed to cover his tracks. So I have an idea of what you're going through.

Chad, thank you so very much for your comment- and for sharing your family's private, hellish story of your own.
I know how much you care for your mom.
We are indeed, at the mercy of those who treat us.
Many do good, but for those who fall short, I just want to scream, for they treat us as if we cannot take in and assess the options for the care of ourselves.

I hope to see you soon.

What a disgrace, your poor mother must be terrified. For what it's worth I have a couple of friends who acquired Hep C through similar medical mistakes, and both are in great health thanks to some new treatment protocols, healthy diet, they are loving life and in total remission.
