There are barely words to describe being witness to the Pride Parade in New York City today, but I will try. Jubilation, reverence, defiance, happiness, indignation, respect, fun, honor, fun, fearless, free and of course, pride. All there, multiplying those messages with every group that congregated, every flag that flew, every float that passed, every heel, garter, eyelash, wig, flower, proposal and kiss. What a day to celebrate that no matter who you are and why you came. It was about to love and respect each other.

They Let The Dogs Out
Today in New York would have been a very bad hair for the pampered pooches that descended on Pier 55 and MSG for the annual Westminister Dog Show. What a kick to see them rolled up, blown out and combed incessantly. Their silky tresses pranced around the ring, strutting their stuff. They looked incredible. The female handlers- not so much- they really need a fashion make-over. I think that puffed sleeves and short boxy jacket suits left when the 80's did. C'mon girls- catch up with your four-legged divas!

Well, I gotta admit, it sometimes takes a plane ticket to get me to leave the UWS-
but getting to draw with the NYC USk folk in Red Hook was too good to pass up. So, I went to the other end of the NYC universe and hopped the ferry and had an incredible day!
Fun times, good stuff to draw and even a treat from the mayor of the Yacht Club!

Word On The Street

The end of Fashion Week in NY has brought out all the pundits about the
latest trends in color and length, sleeves or strapless, one shoulder or two,
and how our First Lady now has the added responsibility of leading the pack.
Though I would have lots to say, apparently this CNN reporter did not think that I was fashion forward enough to comment- that's ok, it gave me time to document her.
